Now the game is completely flyable and fluid with no hesitations or stuttering. After almost a week of tweaking I was about to give up. Tonight I tried to eliminate the autogen scenery by disabling Scenery and turning Scenery Detail to 1 in the cfscfg program. Yea I would lose my trees and all those identical houses but so what, I dont pay any attention to them anyway.
I booted up cfs3 and was rewarded with 40 to 60fps with no stutters! I could now fly through a flak storm without the huge lags and hesitations. I set up a huge dogfight with 16 planes in the air, it was smooth as silk. I tried turning the clouds on and it hardly had any effect on frames. I tried turning the antialiasing back on, no detectible frame rate loss. Hmmmmmmm..
I turned the aircraft textures up to 5, lost frames down to 36 to 48 fps, still smooth as silk. Screen res up to 1280x1076, frames hold steady. The sim runs like a race horse now and the feeling of flight and motion especially in a dogfight is amazing. Apparently the cause of all the stuttering and lag was caused by the autogen trees and houses. With those gone I am adding more and more and it's still running great. Here are some pics of my base setting if anyone would care to try them and confirm that they improved your performance. Then you can add features till it adversly affects your frame rates. If CFS3 is running poorly for you it's worth a shot!

I'm still adding features one at a time so I'll let you know when I hit the limit for my system. At least now I can enjoy the game :)
