I was wondering if anyone else had this same problem. I installed CFS3 on my system which is only a few months old with a 1.8mhz processor, 512k ram, and a Geoforce2 video card.
Everytime that I try and start CFS3 I get this same error message: "CFSConfig could not detect any DirectX 8 capable video cards. CFS3 requries a DirectX 8 compatible video card."
Now I know that I'm not cutting edge with this system but it should be able to handle even the most modern games. Please, if anyone has any suggestions on how to solve this little problem I can get around to more important things.. Like blowing stuff up!!! Thanks friends

I had the same problem. It is with the DX8.2. I remember there being a bug in the DXDiag Tool before where the Direct 3D acceleration was enabled but it wasnt really enabled. Well, in this version, it looks like the same thing is happening.
To check it out I went to the Dx Diag tool in my control panel, then went to the Display tab and ran the test for the Direct 3D. First it runs through the DX7 test then it runs through the DX8 test. If this test fails, you need to click on the "Disable" button next to Direct 3D Acceleration. This will actually enable direct 3D and all should work.
Worked for me at least. I went back and tried to load CFS3 again and it came up.
If anyone else has this problem, I hope this helps.
You should have the DXDiag tool in your control panel. If you dont have it, I cant remember how to get it, but I'm sure somone can tell you.

click start\run, type "dxdiag" and hit enter. Are your video card drivers up to date?

I had same problem---same video card. Downloaded latest driver from nVidia web site, and CFS3 runs like a charm.
