The performance tests are in over at Anandtech between the P4 2.0 gig and the Athlon XP 1.53 Gig which was released today. You'd think this couldn't be very fair given a 500 mhz difference in processor speeds but..

Yeah,without to much trouble either. I'm sure Intel will be bumping the P4 up to 2.2 Gig around December but the Athlon will be at 1.7 gigs by the end of the year so the results will stay much the same.

Good that is great. But to the uninformed public the AthlonXP 1800+ (runs at 1533mhz) seems slower because the P4 2000mhz is a bigger number. I really believe we all should e-mail AMD and tell them to start advertiseing on television like Intel. Some casual consumer or new consumer to the computer marked will hear Intel over and over on the TV and think that must be best. So in my opinion AMD needs to stard a ad campain.

Yeah,I agree,they do need to advertise. I'm thinking if they would have done more advertising they wouldn't need this silly 1500,1600 etc..type of numbering system.

I think even casual computer buyers will still want to know how fast the CPU is no matter what kind of four digit number they stick in front of it.

What would have been nice is if AMD would have kept neck and neck with Intel in CPU speed when they beat Intel to the 1 Gig mark. A 2 GIG AMD would be just one hell of a lot faster than 2 Gig P4.

A little off topic but my social studies teacher uses Microsoft Power Point for lecture notes and his computer is just not up to the job. For start he only has 64megs ram and minimizes everything instead of closeing them down, so the start bar is packed with different apps. And then when we watch a DVD on the computer (It has a digital projector if you wondered) such as Titanic which we are studing it is lacking behind and skipping and the video is 2 seconds ahead of the sound!! It just makes me mad but I guess that is just how you get for being a "nerd"
Ahhh, It feels good to get all of that anger out!
Anyway AMD all the way!!!!!!!
