Is there any possible way of converting 1024x768 textures on a downloaded plane to a 800x600 format?? 1024x768 makes my game real choppy sometimes, and i'm not as picky about graphics.
thanks

Those graphic sizes are not used for aircaft. They must be square, i.e. 256x256, 512x512, 1024x1024. You can open them in many graphics applications and resizes them (you might lose relfections and transparency if not saved correctly.)

Your best bet is to tell FS2002 not to use hi-res textures.

Back them up before making any changes.

LAST EDITED ON Jul-01-03 AT 04:37PM (EDT)[p]A model with textures in 1024x768 would give you better frame rates! this is what they use in AI aicraft with DXT3 ( about 645KB ) with 10 mips, so maybe you should be looking at your system specs?

Those 3/4 ratios are used for a lot of panels and view bmp's but not acft textures. I have reduced some panels to 800x600 for better performance, but when I reduce acft textures from 1024 to 512, I see no increase in FR. Two other things which may be causing lower performance are polygon count and the number of sides on the model, like 48 or 64 sides.

lol those sides you are talking about those are the polygons ;-) Each polygon is just either a square or a triangle depending on how the creator did it....edit mesh gives you trinagles...edit poly gives you squares which I find easier to work with!
