Ok, I am very new to gmax. In fact, I just learned how to use it yesterday, and within 3 hours created my first semi-complete gmax model. The problem arises every time I try to export the model. Once it opens up the MakeMDL program that was supplied with FS2002 Pro, it freezes and after a few minutes it finally says that the .MDL file was unable to be created. If anyone here is good with gmax, would it be possible for me to send you the file and see if you have any luck figuring out the problem..? thanks in advance

LAST EDITED ON May-25-03 AT 10:46AM (EDT)[p]Download the updated MakeMDL from http://zone.msn.com/flightsim/FS02DevDeskSDK00.asp . It may not cure your problem.
Secondly, a log file is generated in the folder you are sending the *.mdl or *.bgl. Check this log to see additional information about the errors.
Other things to check are: Use a period (.) vice a comma (,) for decimal points. Check your units: 1 unit should equal 1 meter.
Have you tried to export the samples provided with FS2002 to see if they create an *.mdl or *.bgl?

Hello, ASt,
I concur with all of Bill's excellent suggestions.
Also, there are two very useful sites (along with this one!) for GMax sharing of info: freeflightdesign.com (where one of the Tips is my "From GMax to FS2002 in 12 1/2 Steps") and also gmaxsupport.com.
Hope these help.

Hello, AStr,
Try renaming your project gastruck or gas_truck. I recall something about two-word names being prohibited.
Wonder if this works?

DO NOT use spaces in your model (or anything else) names....
for safety's sake, all your part names, texture names, model/project names should NOT have spaces.
Like Dennis says - rename it gas_truck, or gastruck. (underscore is okay, don't mess about with other characters..)
