I have upped my resolution to 1600x1200 and lowered the mip map level in the CARD, in fs9 it has always been on 4 but i'm talking about the mipmap slider from high performance to high quality in the card settings 3d tab, i got rid of alot of those shimmers , i think i will be temporarily satisfied however i must add that looking left and right seemed very good but in front of me in the distance their is still a shimmer, i tried but can't solve it, so ill live with it i guess until i try a new card and see if the shimmer is there at all. The ati 9800 pro does not use fsaa therefore its not a perfect card for fs9 because fs9 has alot of mips which it does not alias correctly. Maybe now i can enjoy a nice flight downsouth after all this testing......

of course now my eyes hurt because the refresh rate is at 60hz and does not go higher on my monitor at 1600x1200.
Have you tried a lower resolution with the same mipmap settings?

...and stop saying the 9800 pro is not a good card for FS9, it is. I get clear pictures with only an occasional motion iduced shimmer on a fence or distant tree while on the ground, other than that I have NO problems with mine. And I bet if Bigshot were here, he'd really let you have it too! :P
Have you tried the QUALITY settings yet????

Neil what is the rest of your system and what monitor size and resolution are you using? And video driver?
edit: Fine maybe it is a very good card i want to believe that too but i need to fix my problem then, i guess my best bet is reinstalling. I hope i'm doing this for a good reason. I dont want to lose my stuff.

I gave up on flightsimmer. I come to the conclusion that the only good part he has in his computer is the 9800Pro card from everything I've read. :-)

I use a Viewsonic E90F+SB 19 INCH .22MM Ultra Bright Flat Panel. (NOT flat screen)
I am running it at the res after 1024/768...11XX??? Lower than 1280..sorry, I am at work and forgot the numbers...But at a 85hz refresh rate.
Currently on the 4.11 driver, but they seem a little sluggish, though stable. I may try one of the 5.xx driver I have sitting around just to compare and see.
