Hi, All

It worths the money, to get a very good power supply.
Last week my computer won´t boot.

Then I replaced the mobo.Nope.
Replaced the memory.Nope.
Replaced the CPU.Nope
Replaced the video card (Ti4200) by my old MX440.Boots.
So, the problem was the video card? Wrong.
Checking the voltages I noticed the 3.3V below 2.7V.
It was enough to drive the Mx card, but not for the Ti card.
Replaced the Power supply for a 500W good one, problem solved, back to my Ti4200.

I hope this can helps someone.

Regards,

Val

Yes again...funny how we need a good power supply to run our video cards, not our cpu, mobo, or perhipherals.

I just replaced my stock power supply that came with my case. It was an AOpen 300W unit. It worked okay until I added a second hard drive. After being on for a few hours it started smelling that new electrical smell. Reaching behind the case I found the power supply to be very warm. It was still stable as for as I can tell but I was a little worried about long term reliability.

Since I just ordered a 9800Pro video card I figured I was going to need more Horsepower so I decided to change it.

I put in a 470W Enermax Noisetaker power supply. It is very heavy duty compared to my old one and is very quiet. Installation was very easy and took about 1 hour (my first time). It has been in my case for about 2 hours now and it is still very cool to the touch.

Also this may seem silly but it seems like my computer runs slightly faster. Especially when accessing data from the Hard drives. Probably just my imagination!!!

The Enermax Noisetaker power supply is $94 at New Egg. I am impressed.
