Hey guys.

Quick question. I wanted to update my Gainward GeForce 4 ti 4200 to newer drivers. When I search thru NVidia's driver database, all it points me to (for ANY video card) is this 'ForceWare' crud...It doesn't explain - so is this what I want??? (Version 53.03 it says...)

I love the unclear marketing cr@p now-a-days :-roll

Thanks,
Kyle

If you have XP or 2000, get it from;
http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_53.03

If it's 98 or Me;
http://www.nvidia.com/object/win9x_53.04

These are the latest 'stock' drivers.

Yes...nVidia changed the name of their drivers from Detonator to Forceware. It's the same.

Hi, Kyle

For Ti4200, 45.23 is a better choice than 53.03.

Val

Kyle,

Go with the latest drivers, they include a lot of fixes that were not present in the 45.23 release. I don't know why localizer keeps recommending old drivers, can you please post the difference in performance between the two since you keep bringing up this subject?

Hi, TheFlightMan

If you have a Ti card, make the comparison with both drivers using 3DMARK2001, and you will get the answer.

Localizer,

Sorry, I don't have a TI card but if you can post some results and FPS with FS2004 it would help others make a decision on whether to go with 45.23 or 53.04.

Thanks,
TheFlightMan

===============

That absolutely was not the case on my old TI-4200.

No 45 series drivers worked well with mine.

I held on to the 44.67's all the way until the 52 series, which worked great.

With a Ti4200 I found the 53.03 drivers reduced performance - went back to 52.16.

Further to my post above the new 55.56 drivers(installed yesterday) seem to give a slight increase in performance. In addition there are several new features available such as "auto-overclock".
