I have a p4 3.0 800 fsb ati 9800 pro latest driver so why am i experiencing shaky graphics especially trees? Any one? I'm am getting very annoyed because of this.

when i start moving with any aircraft the graphics (trees) seem to shake but not when i initially start the sim, at this point they will be rock solid. Weird?

Hi

Try lowering your mip map slidder down to about 4 ( if you have FS 2004 ) .
With regards to the trees i just imagine that its the wind blowing on to the trees so i leave my MIP MAP slidder at 5 and im happy with this .

I agree, you might have your MIP Mapping too high and it causes this shaking condition. The other possibility is an issue with your video card driver but I honestly thing it's the MIP Mapping.

The trees use an alpha channel for knocking out the transparent areas between the branches, but ATI video cards don't support anti-aliasing of those alpha channels, so what you're seeing is most likely the "jaggies" of the branches that shimmer as the view of the trees shifts. I've got my mipping set to "4" as well, and it looks acceptable. As was already said, just view it as the "wind in the trees" effect, and go fly! I'm not sure much else can be done about it if or until ATI changes how they handle those alphas.

Is there maybe a patch or a new set of trees we can download and install that can maybe help the situation. Other wise i'll just believe its wind but when the wind is at 1 knot it will be hard to beleive since these trees blow very hard in every direction :)
Thank you for your explanation.

I have the same tree shaking along with the construction crane tower on the ABQ airport. Also the entire ground/lights of the city have a back and forth motion when looking out the front windscreen and generally under 1000 AGL. I set the MIP map to 4 and the lights to 7. I am running the 4.1 drivers on my ATI 9800 Pro.

No other programs seems to have this anomaly except MS FS2004 so it has to be a problem with the software, yes?

Hi

Yes there are a set of new trees textures that can be found on www.Flightsim.com and www.Avsim.com , some of these lower the image of the trees to help with FPS and should stop the shimmering as well.
I have tryied them .... but ive gone back to the default ones .

I could swear that people said Catalyst 4.1 took care of that problem. But I dunno, I am waiting for my system with the identical card. I'll let you know!

Use Gerrish's connifer trees. The one's he made for FS2k2. They work the best. Very little noise from them and they look better than the stock trees anyway.

Adjust and set all of the anti-aliasing settings in your ATI software setting to the highest slider settings as possible and then go into the flight sim. and turn off or uncheck the anti-aliasing (AA) box under the settings menu under the hardware settings. Also, check and use trilinear setting in the FS9 setting.
I am not at my Flight Sim. computer now- so I can't tell you exactly what to do- but- from what I have read in the other forums this seems to help as FS9 should not control the anti-aliasing but the card software should.
Also, use the advice by others who have responded to you.
Good Luck!
