Whether using VFR or IFR, I cannot get close to the carrier without ATC automated weather coming on and staying on. Closest I got to talking to the Air Boss was when I flew IFR out of KLAX--that time Socal Approach handed me off to "Approach." "Approach" (which I presumed to be KING tower) guided me to within about 2 miles of the deck, then that pesky ATC automated weather announcement started playing....really fouls one's concentration when you're trying to make a "controlled crash" onto the deck of the carrier.
Constructive responses would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,

I'd be willing to bet that the default startup frequency of your Com 2 radio is preset to the ATIS for the carrier. Re-tune your Com 2 and see if you get some relief.

OK, thanks, Tom. I'll try it if I can find the blasted radio gauge on this A6! :-)

Hi Len,
Here's a 'trick' I use in such a situation:
start the flight --- press pause if not already on.
switch to something with a full radio console like the Cessna.
Tune your radios.
Switch back to the original AC.
Resave flight.
--------- or ----------
manually add a full radio console (in an extra window) to your Mil AC.
If you have a spare window available, that is.
Hope this helps.
