That's lot of typing, I'm lazy. I think you would find we all own
pretty much the same thing. Your list and mine have about 70%
duplication. Based on what you have, I bet you would love the B-25
Briefing Time and the DC-3 by Mid Atlantic Air Museum (MAAM) at
www.maam.org. Take Care.

Wow you folks are really serious about this flight simming.
I just settle for the freewares!

Yes… And believe me – I’m not trying to brag. I did a quick estimate of the value of my add-ons and… Well, I really must slow down a bit now. After all I have a wife, two kids and a fulltime job and FSX is on its way… ;)
However - One important note! All these add-ons have turned an already excellent flight sim to a marvellous experience! I still enjoy it very much so purchasing FSX isn’t an obvious thing right now for me.

If you dont want to fly a cartoon you have to purchase payware planes,, i like freeware scenery though, i have a lot of that ,,namely VOZ

"IMPONERANDE" Wow!You are a serious man. Richard, its educational reading that list. However it makes me feel diminutive, and lacking. What you put together is a "World" Now, your evaluation of these ,could be the basis of a book you can put together. Also you can sell this collection as the ultimate, ready to go FS9,rig and all.

mmmmmm...I think you should think about comparing some of the freeware planes to "cartoons". There are many excellent freeware aircraft, comparable to payware. The Commanders by Milton Shupe and Co for instance. The F16 by Kirk Olsen, the F15 by Coral, the Tridents and BAC 1-111's by David Maltby (I dare you to find a payware better than those) the Bell 430 by Al Devins, the F86 by Kirk Olsen, the F1 Mirage by Kirk Olsen, the Falcon 50 by Yannick Lavigne, any helicopter by Jordon Moore of Hovercontrol.......all these COULD be sold as payware, with all the qualities needed. BUT, they are freeware, and I don't believe many of us think it fair to call 'em "cartoon" planes....:)
I agree, there are some freeware aircraft that are out there not worth looking at. But don't lump them with some of the excellent ones listed above! :)

One thing that I want to say is that there are a lot of great guality freeware planes available such as the Maule M-7-260, The Spartan Executive, Robin DR400/180, Lockheed P-3C, DeHavilland DH Chipmunk, North American F86, Northrop T38A, and everything by Bill Lyons, This is just to list a few. These aircraft along with other freeware planes are comparable to and in many ways exceed many of the payware aircraft.
I know this from experiance. Even though I love my payware planes. I find that I use the freeware planes just as often. The Maule M-7-260 is one of my favorites.
I have several planes from Carenado. Such as the Piper PA181 Archer II and the Cessna 210 M Centurion, I also have Cessna 441 ConquestII and Cessna 152 Trainer by Flight1, and the Sonex sport aircraft which is no longer available from where I got it but Olivier Marechal creater of the RUTAN Long-EZ HB-YCT is currently working on bringing us an updated FSX ready version of the Sonex. For those who are unfamiler with the Sonex please check out http://www.sonexaircraft.com/.
I have FS Navigator, USA Roads, EZ-Scenery, Ultimate Traffic, and Roaring Thirties. I'm planning on buying the Cirrus SR20 G2 from Eagle Soft next week when I get back from a short vacation. If any of you can give me feedback on this plane, please do.

I have 4200 aircraft, I have made some new folders for some to make
them easier to find, so really there are a few less than that!!
My FS folder is over 140gbs!!
I have 18 addon scenerys, all Alaska!!
The only payware I have is a dozen or so aircraft I have won in
screenshot contests!!
I don't even remember what they are now!!
I think one is a P-38??

Wow! My hard drive isn't even that big. 4200 airplanes! I think that you must have set the record. By the way, a female flight simmer, really cool. It has seemed to me that flight simming is a male domanated world. I'm glad to see that women like this hobby to. My wife just thinks that flight simming is silly.

i am a pilot so FS is neat for me!!
I have planes like the Fouga in folders for each country so they
are easier to find, and several others like that, so there are not
really 4200 aircraft!! There are 4200 folders in my aircraft folder!!
We have 3 160 HDs!!

I "are" a pilot also, and I read what you do,and find it fascinating. From Ole hanger stuff on. It seems your flying a "File Cabinet" Great stuff you show, and tell,Thanx. Some do not realize women are pioneers in aviation, and are most active participants in the Sim world. My grand daughters are very competent on this Sim. When schools out ,so am I. CIAO VIN ;-)

Good evening
My name is Gerry and I am a newbie to FS. I am browsing through these posts in the 2004 forum and I came accross your post where you say that you have quite a number of add-on sceneries all for Alaska. My first passion is flying in Alaska as I am working to climb my "learning curve in FS" Would you be willing to share some of your valuable experience and share with me your overall assesment of your Alaska add-ons . Then I would be very well informed in making my selection of add-ons for my system.
Here is my e-mail address should you be willing to share your experience with a Canadian newbie.
gerray@magma.ca
Last week I got "Ultimate Terrain ..Alaska and Canada..I have just finished installing it. I will never understand why I waited till the age of 65 to get into this wonderful world of FS.
Best regards
Gerry

Welcome to the boards. Although I'm not the original poster, I thought I'd reply with a few suggested Alaska items.
One suggestion with Ultimate Terrain is to turn off the night lighting in the setup utility if you plan to fly in the day. This will allow more autogen buildings. Apparently the night lighting presence blocks out to some degree the houses and such.
Here is a lengthy list of freeware Alaska sceneries
http://walhalla.mine.nu/fs2004/alaska.php
That whole site has a great accumulation of links to sceneries all over the world. Alaska has so many, it has it's own section.
A set of great photorealistic sceneries are the 'Alaska Cinematic'
Here is a review of volume one which I have;
http://www.flightsim.com/cgi/kds?$=main/review/akcine/akcine.htm
The website
http://www.georender.org/AKPhoto.htm
here's a photo from my own screenshots

Another great freeware scenery is 'Glacier Bay, Alaska/Canada, Version 2'
I downloaded them from a site as files glbayv2a.zip and glbayv2b.zip
Here's a pic from that scenery;

Quick couple of questions a little off topic - sorry :o
You fly Alaska a lot - how often do the Northern lights show up?
(I saw them for the first time this week. They did a great job on them!)
What screen shot contests? I'm new to screenshots and video.
The only payware I use is FS genesis but have about 90 gig of freeware add-on aircraft. They're sort of addicting. I have some I haven't flown yet and many I haven't flown for ages. I have about 10 gig of add-on scenery - freeware.
I feel like a newbie next to 140 gig though. :)

What system do you run all that on? The reason I ask, is Im finding a lot of nice addons I used in FS9 are not compatable with Vista. ( either with fs9 or fsx )

XP Pro.
IMHO Vista is this generations ME :)
We sell computers and are downgrading almost everyone to XP Pro - if you can call it a 'downgrade'
