Hi guys!
I'm having an unexpected problem with FS: before formatting my HD, I would get about 15-17fps at the default Seattle airport runway with the Cessna 172SP Skyhawk. Now, I get 5-7Ffps with the same display settings I was using, the same video drivers, FS9 at the same conditions (patched)...
the only things that changed is that, now my sound board doesn´t work because of a technical issue, and my Windows XP is SP1 now (I was running SP2 then)...

Could somebody help me???

Thanks,
Lucas.

your sound issue is likely to be the culprit, however try the following...

delete or rename the default.xml file in the autogen folder. you lose the fast food reestaurants but you often see an increase in frame rates

try different resolutions for your video card. If you can find the native resolution that will help. mine works smoothly on 1280 x 960 but slower on 1024 x 768!

visit Vistaoz.org forums and look for Koorby's two minute tune up guide here: http://vistaoz.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=3276

And get into your BIOS and My Computer Hardware settings and make sure your sound card setings and drivers are sorted out!

Any new background processes running that you can turn off?

Perhaps FS is attempting via DX drivers to write to your blocked sound card and is wasting CPU cycles. If you are temporarily using an onboard sound chip this could also have a degrading effect.
