In my previous post about how far out to contact the tower for permission to land the discussion turned to go-arounds at busy airports. Someone suggested using the AISmooth program, calling it freeware. But don't you have to buy FSUIPC in order to use AISmooth? So it's not really freeware?

Thanks for the reply, I downloaded eerything again and installed per instruction and it appears to work as advertised. The proof of the pudding will be when I "fly" into KDEN later today. Tons of go arounds there.

I have a registered copy of FSUIPC, but the program docs for AISmooth say it works fine with an unregistered copy.
The latest version of AISmooth, v1.12, is available here:

It is free.
Independent of FSUIPC
Many programs take advatege of FSUIPC. I did buy it,
Have use FSUIPC for a long time as for free.
So when it was released as payware did buy it.
Did not hurt me buying it. Figured out that a lot of people do give us lots and lots of stuff for free.
The creator of this also did. paying for it did not hurt me at all.
Glad to pay back a little of the efforts put in creating it.

It is also a free version of it.
Either way, independently, AISmooth ends up being free.
You will find lots some addons that will use FSUICP.
Some free, some you need to buy.

Have a great day!

Hi DKT,

I think I'm the one who suggested you check out AI Smooth. I'm glad you like it. I frankly don't know how I lived without it. It's amazing how a free little program can have such a profound impact on the enjoyability of the game.
