hey every one,
as i continue to learn, and try out diff things in fs2004, i want to fly more and more and for longer periods at a time. However...lets say I want to fly from, SJO to MIA..or JFK to CCS ...
these flights are 3 hours + long...
I tried saving the flight..but ..when I come the next dat to continue, and I load the file, I am back to the departing arport !!!
so what is the point of saving the flight???
obviously I must be doing something wrong.....or is it not possible to continue right where you left off ( in mid flight)
sory if this is a dumb question.
ps. I would love to stay all night flying but its not feasable some times!!!

Hi,
When you come back you must go to Flights/Select A Flight and choose the saved flight. Then you will be taken to the spot you left off at.
Hope this helps,

As an alternative, you can simply Ctrl-C to end the program.
The next time you load, Flights/Select A Flight, and choose "Previous Flight."
Simple!

Having worked in computers since Pontious was a pilot, I am acutely aware of the need to keep backups and checkpoints. So, whenever flying a long sortie, I always pause and Save Flight As at each waypoint, so if anything untoward happens I can always start from the last known fix.
In order not to generate vast numbers of waypoint positions I save the filght as "Continue", overwriting it with each save.
150 hours gliding, 285 single-engine piston. Uncounted simulator time since FS1
If you do end the program this way (ctrl c), you could also start it a little faster:
Look in My Documents\Flight Simulator Files. You should find a file named previous flight.flt. Make a shortcut to this file and place it wherever you find it convenient. (Mine is in the quick launch folder on the taskbar)By clicking on this shortcut, FS9 starts exactly there, where you left it.

Another suggestion to add to this fine list is to use AutoSave from here:
