Hi Folks,
How do you fly an ILS approach with the F14b Tomcat? The gauge on John J Schumacher’s 2D panel can be tuned to the localiser frequency and displays heading information, but I can’t see a glideslope needle on this gauge.

I know there is a glideslope alarm that sounds a warning if you go too low, but I would have thought a too-high indicator would also be necessary. There is a two needle VOR on the heads down panel, but I can’t watch the runway and this gauge at the same time.

Am I missing something?

Finally, can anyone tell me where to find a description of the function of the buttons on the autopilot on the rear cockpit panel?

I am not familiar with the aircraft your using. If it's not responding properly to ILS it may be that the gauhe is set for the Military landing system.

I don't remember what it's acronym is though.

I spent some time with the guys at vUSN. They have a killer tomcat that they've put a lot of time into developing. If you go to www.vusn.org you may be able to get some better ideas there since they live off of naval aircraft.
