just changed computer from windows 98 to xp prof.
had no problem adding downloaded textures with 98 for fs2004 but cannot do same with xp
unable to access config file tried to follow suggested route per faq of:
drive\documents and settings\user name\application data\fs9 but only get as far as user name then not sure what to do next!
appreciate help

I'm not exactly sure what the problem is - hard to tell without proper punctuation - but are you looking for "fs9.cfg" and can't find it because your Folder Options are set to "Hide Known File Extensions"? If so, deactivate the latter so that you can see the whole filename. Then open the .cfg file with Notepad.

Again, I'm not sure if this will help since I don't remember having to do anything quite like that to add textures....

excuse my ignorance but how do i access folder options to deactivate

'ello,
The aircraft.cfg files that you want aren't in that route. That is the route for the FS9.cfg file for FS2004, COF or FS9. They are in your FS2004/Aircraft/Your_Choice_plane /Aircraft.cfg as they were in Win98.
This hasn't changed.
Follow the instructions about unhiding known file extensions in your "My computer" underneath the meu/tools/folder options/view
to unhide file extensions and for that matter, I like to see my hidden files as well on my PC.
