I decided to do a long flight in the new Citation X. I decided to fly from Tunis in Tunisia to La Palma in the Canary Is. The ETA was about 3Hrs. Anyway I got down to Casablanca, Morocco at FL500 cruisin along at Mach .90 and tuned in to Casablanca Centre on nav 1, and all of a sudden it started giving me the automated weather loop on the ATC freq. At the end of every loop, ATC would come on and issue inst. to other aircraft etc and then the loop would start again. Anyway I asked to climb to FL 510 and was cleared to do so but was unable to reply to ATC because at the end of every loop ATC was asking me did I copy. In the end because I could not reply ATC cancelled my IFR F/P. I made another F/P and continued on my way.

I never did make La Palma as the centre tank ran out of fuel, as I was just turning on to finals at 4000ft visual, and by the time I switched tanks and got the APU going to restart engines I crashed into the sea. :(

It is very rare but your radio was tuned to the same freq as the ATIS. I almost had this happen but I was off freq by .01. Most airport freqs are set not to be near or the same as the ATIS in any given area. Since you were flying so far you must have encountered a freq that you would not have in another region.
