Thought I'd post this here to see if anyone has any ideas, the support over at Flight1 is very busy helping a lot of people with major problems,I can understand that they don't have time for my relativly minor query. Here goes:
I have been trying to install some repaints, and am having problems. After using T-O-M, the aircraft appear in the FS aircraft menu, but they're listed as Piper Malibu Meridian, and the textures dont show.If I try to select the version anyway,FS crashes and restarts.Am I missing something here? Please don't get me wrong, the new version is so fantastic, I'm happy with the default paint! It just puzzles me as to why this should be,any thoughts?

Sorry, I can't help you much with this. Still, you may want to give it a try at the Flight1 forums, anyways. I was having a problem with the Garmin Trainer that was resolved by a fellow member giving me a tip. So while the official Flight1 guys may be busy, someone who just hangs out there might have an idea. :-)

Thanks for your reply, thought you'd like to know that I've solved the problem!
It seems to have had something to do with the T-O-M.I reinstalled, this time using the full 64MB file downloader instead of the update file downloader, and now it works!Go figure...

I have just started using the Piper Meridian in FS9 too and found that it crashes the simulator if I start in any view other than the 2D cockpit (similar to the Eaglesoft aircraft). Is this a known issue or just me experiencing this?.

Yep,I'm experiencing this too, although otherwise the aircraft is perfect.I guess I can live with it,it's not a big deal.I assume that it's because the gauges must be loaded first, the Eaglesoft aircraft have always had this problem too.If I save a flight I save it in 2D cockpit anyway because not all aircraft have a "clickable" VC,and I like to start my flights "cold and dark".In comparison to the problems other people are having with the Meridian over at Flight1 I guess we should count ourselves lucky. :-)

that's why I haven't installed it yet, I'll be waiting for the fixes.

Ah well - It's nice not to be alone :)
Guess I'll learn to live with it too, I did with the Eaglesofties.
Thanks - Dave

Hum, which fixes? the plane-as-to-be-loaded-in-2d-panel-first is not a gauge or loosy developer problem, it is a limitation imposed to the developers by the FS SDK for complex gauges...
Hope this helps!

An off-topic question for you:
I happened to notice that you're a charter member. What does this mean exactly, and what's the difference to a normal membership?Today is the first time I've noticed it,just curious...

Charter members are the people who were around when the forum software was upgraded over the summer.
