Hi,

My copy of FS2K2 PRO is bought and lying 5000 miles away. I hope to get and install it in the New Year. In the meantime by way of some home work I wld appreciate answers to as many of the following questions as anyone can help me with.

1. I want to buy a new HDD with a capacity anywhere between 75-120 GB. I want to keep my present hardware confg the same at a PIII 800 CPU/ P3BF-Asus Motherboard /1 GB of SDRAM / Asus V3800 -32MB AGP. Keeping another smaller HDD with Win ME also for the daily grind , I am thinking of the new HDD with Win XP Prof with multiple partitions to serve my FS needs. What about downloaded files (done on the Win Me HDD with FAT32) transfered to the 2nd HDD (with Win XP and NTFS)?

2. What if I install FS2K2 and FS2K in different partitions on the same HDD? Will they run without a problem? Will I be able to read some sceneries from FS2K in FS2K2?

3. I use CH products USB yoke and pedals and MS Forcefeedback Joystick. Wld I require different drivers to run under Win XP? If so, are they available?

4. Since I hv yet to get my copy of FS2K2, I do not know whether after a full install it requires the CD for each run. If so, has someone come out with the great 'NoCD' utility as in FS2K?

Looking forward to your inputs and thanking you all in advance.

Aarmin:-)

Windows XP will see both partitions but ME will only see the FAT32. (In XP) you can transfer files between the two fine.

Both FS2k and FS2k2 can be installed at the same time as long as they have diffrent locations. ie. c:/program files/microsoft games/FS2000 and c:/program files/microsoft games/FS2002

You MAY need new drivers under XP, however my stuff install on xp with no additonal drives being loaded (XP recognized everything fine)

With a FULL install (almost 2 gig) FS2k2 does not need a cd to run.

If both partitions are formatted the same, and are visible to one another, there is no reason why you can't read the sceneries - just point to the correct folder. Obviously you will have to check if the FS2000 scenery is compatible with FS2002.

When you install each sim the compute will reference the program in the Registry. It really doesn't care which partition you use !

Thank you both for the feedback. Considering the system config. as I outlined, in your experience will it suffice? The whole cost of a new state-of-art CPU/Motherboard/AGP card would rather be avoided by me at this stage unless absolutly necessary.
