Does anyone really know how FS decides to place on each terrain tile? I was hoping to add more trees to forrest areas to really give you that cananpy feel when flying low and slow. I just feel the current trees (I use Gerrish's) just seem sporadic.
Anyone have any ideas here?
Thanks

I agree that even with autogen density on extremely dense, wooded areas/forests still don't seem anything like as dense as what they appear in reality, but I presume that's just to prevent significant loss in terms of frame rates. If FS2004 had autogen tree numbers matching those present in real life forests, you'd probably need about a 5GHz processor to run it!

Take a look at the FS2002 scenery SDK -- they have some info in there about autogen, and I expect FS2004 works in a similar fashion.

I disagree, Anytime i am over a city area, I get substantial Frame rate loss when I crank autogen. So I have it on medium. But this makes my forrest areas very sparse.
So....framerate issue aside...Is it possible to change the denisty passed the max slider position for certain items of Autogen???
Plus in six months or so...I think would be able to handle alot more then what we can now. Its time for another jump in technolgy.
Any help??

Thanks Larry, basically what I want to do is set the Building autogen down and then Trees up. Make since? When setting at normal autogen, trees are very sparse. I use Gerrish's trees, so that helps a bunch. They lool wonderful. Just would like more. And I think that it would not be that much of a hit. I would trade 1-2 fps in the country for better coverage. Average 25-30 at 2,000 ft AGL in most country settings at High setting. Average 15 fps in the city at the same setting. And this is with the replacement autogen scenery for the buildings.
So...if I can turn down autogen to medium all the time, but have the more trees...I think it would be a good tradeoff. Soon to update from my AMD2000 to something. Just don'y know what yet. I will probably wait till after Christmas, because I personally think that is when the next major price drop will be.
