Hi Simmers,

David Friswell has released his excellent Macchi 326H aircraft through http://www.AUSSIM.com yesterday and it should be posted for download in the next day or two.

http://www.gjsmith.net/images/Textures/AllMacchis.jpg

So if you would like some of the textures I have created for her then please visit the Macchi Page - you will find that in my CATALOG page.

While your there don't forget there is well over 500 other textures available for download - just for you to enjoy so have a browse around and see if there is anything that you would like to wrap onto one of your favourite aircraft.

If there is nothing there that you fancy then you can alway make a request for a texture through my REQUEST page.

And for those who would like to paint their own - there is always my free comprehensive graphics tutorial available on my TUTORIAL page.

And last but not least your always welcome to visit my forum or my little GuestMap and leave some comments about my textures.

So what are you waiting for - get youself over to http://www.gjsmith.net and have a look at the treats available to you.

Regards and happy simming.

Hi Garry,

What is the connection to the site like for you in Oz ? The last few times I've tried to connect the site has timed-out on me after a couple of minutes. If your connection is fine, there may be a bottleneck somewhere down the line on the International links.

Hi Alastair,

If you mean the connection to my site - http://www.gjsmith.net then it is screaming along and seems to be working fine - it is physically in Melbourne Australia and I am in Newcastle - connecting through a standard ISP to it and the world and all seems fine. (confirmation that it is working is that the picture of the macchi's above comes from the macchi page on my site)

If you mean the aussim.com site for the aircraft download - then yes they are having some timeout errors - not sure what the problem is for them but I have advised the webmaster that several people have contacted me about inability to access and timeouts.

Thanks - I've never had any problems accessing your site, it was www.aussim.com I was having problems with.

Cheers,

Alastair

Hi Garry! It's great to hear from you again. I am very happy to see that you continue your texturings magic and "tinkering" in 2004!

I never forget the excellent job you did on the Trans Global 707 from the movie Airport.

For those of you who would like to see it, here's a direct link to Garry's 707 page: http://www.gjsmith.net/Textures/b707.htm

and here's the movie Airport: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0065377/

Garry, I would hate to be picky, but you still have my name spelled wrong, "Lief" instead of "Leif"...I don't mind! I am very used to it :)

Garry, is there sometimes some trouble with some of your polished metal textures in 2004? if there is, will you update some of the most popular?

Thank you for the work you do, and I hope we all here from you soon again!

Hi Leif,

Firstly I will fix your name on my B707 page as soon as I finish this post - sorry - I am just as fussy about double "R" in my name so you are indeed allowed to be picky :-)

Re my textures and FS2004 - difficult question - at the moment there is an issue with my/anyones reflective effects on some video cards - wherever there is sunlight the reflective effect can look intense white instead of metallic chrome. However, on other video cards it is normal.

In general many are reporting absolutely no problems with the aircraft that I have done with intense reflective effects but some, including myself with a Geeforce TI4200 128mb, have the intense white problem in the sunlight. If you pan under the aircraft the texture is normal - move out to sunshine and it is white - real problem but definately not related to the texture.

Since encountering this video card problem - I have deliberately done my latest FS2004 texture with only very soft reflective effects such as the Macchi's and a few DC3's and several fleets of VA work that I have done. I will only be doing lightly relfectives for FS2004 until TI release a driver to fix the problem.

I know it is definately a driver issue with the card and FS2004 as I have a program here that shows the textures as they should appear in FS2004 and it shows the reflective effects - but take the aircraft into FS2004 and intense white in sunlight!!!!!

Our appologies to all those who may be trying to download my Macchi 326H, the problem is due to email virus bot flooding our Aussim email address' & server with blaster & sobig.f virii. This is causing a severe slowdown of our site & we are trying to fix it whilst fitting in with our employment (day jobs).
I am experiencing a lot of slowdowns over various sites around the net with me using a 56K modem (slowdem), i don't appear to have the same troubles when using my mate's ADSL 512K connection at all. In light of this & to save Garry from those who ask hime as to why our site is not responsive, i shall post here , Avsim & Simviation on Friday Aust time.

Sorry to hear about your problems - those virri makers are scum !! Hope you can return to normal soon (for your peace of mind rather than ours !)

Cheers,

Alastair

Too right they are mate, my aussim email has 4700+ email sitting on the server --> all of these are virii. :(
Just a note, as i have typed this, our site seems to be working quite well.
