I also cannot use the FS98 cd for additional locations in FS98. I can use the sim without the cd but when I have it start from the cd I have a problem and the system locks up. Also, if I start it without the cd and then pick a location that requires the cd, I insert the cd and it starts to read the cd and locks up. I upgraded from W95 to W98
Talking to Microsoft, they told me to rename the folder to something else and delete the FS98 sim from the register. I did this. Then I used the cd and reinstalled the sim. The sim worked with the cd.
I them deleted the new Flight Simulator folder and renamed the old one to Flight Simulator. Then tried it again. It did not work then. I have almost a gig of files and folders under the original folder and only have about 350 meg left on my drive.
When I first renamed the FS98 folder and reinstalled FS98 I tried to copy the folders from the renamed FS to the new FS and ran out of room. So it is becoming very frustrating.
Does anyone know what might be different from the complete old folder and the new install. One of the files that is in the old folder sure must be different that the new installed folder. I got the impression from MS that the registry might be the problem, however, when i reinstalled the FS98 it put an entry into the registry. So it was a good one.
When i deleted the new FS98 folder and renamed the old FS to Flight Simulator it worked without the cd but not with the cd.
Any ideas on his one.
Thanks
Don
