Is there any way to change the newer GPS system from the 2K4 system back to the one in 2K2? As an older pilot I am accustomed to it and I prefer it.
Thanks for any help

To the best of my knowledge this is not possible.

I actually tried to do that the other day by renaming the old one as something else, and then copying it into my gauges folder and pointing to it in my panel.cfg, but all I still get is the new one. I still have a couple other tricks I want to try yet, but it may indeed be impossible. I found the old one so much easier to read!

Saul,
I actually teach classes in using GPS and I think the new one is much better, but it does take a little getting used to.
I would suggest you go through the tutorial and spend some time learning how to use it. There are two version and the controls work a little differently, which adds to the confusion.
But there is a lot more flexibility in the new GPS and you can access all airports.
It looks like the old one is not possible but I will bet given some time with the new one you will like it a lot better. But it does require a little learning curve. Give it chance and I think it will grow on you quickly, I hope.
Good luck.

Thanks to all you gentlemen! I guess I'll have to get my old brain working again. It is so difficult at my (80)age.
Thanks again

Anyone use a full function GPS add-on? Any more or less demanding on frame rates?
Thanks

If you find the GPS500 too demanding, or overkill, and you know how to do it, you can swap it out in a particular panel with the GPS 295.
There are probably some of you who do not even know this GPS exists, as it is not in the "heavy metal" and more advanced panels.
The 295, which is basically Garmin's GPS Map 295 product, is easier / more intuitive to use, and still has more features than the old FS2002 GPS.
Please, don't ask me how to install it to another panel, however, but it is easy, will take under a minute to do, and perhaps someone else can help with the panel.cfg end of things. I'm just too busy right now working on my own panel.cfg, and don't want to confuse myself! ;-)
You've got two, nice and rather realistic GPSs in FS9, no need to go back to the old one. :-)

Hi Saul, I too thought I would like the old one back also, but after using it for a while I find a lot to like about it, some of the features are pretty neat, but it does take up a lot of room and if you make it smaller you really can't read it so well. I too am getting up in years ( 78 ) My advice play with it some more and see what happens. Old Man Harry
