Hi,
Preparing for FS2002, so:

Wondering if somebody else had this problem too:

- I just replaced my 2x128mb RAM to 2 x 256 RAM.
- I have a PIII 800 which can handel up to 1.5Ghz RAM
- The BIOS notices the 256 RAM in the 2 out of the 3 sockets
- But then Windows 98 locks and won't go out of the DOS-screen.

- I have to reduce the RAM to 256mb to run Windows 98se.
- I changed the system.ini to 256mb cache.
- This does not help?!

Has anybody an idea?!

Thanks in advance

Try moving the ram dimms around. In other words, take the one from slot 1 and put it in slot 2, and the one in slot 2 into slot 1. I don't know why, but sometimes ram wants to be in a certain slot.

If that doesn't work, try with just one 256 chip in, and then pull it out and try the other. Maybe one of them is defective.

Yesterday, we found the problem: it was the network card of 3com which caused the hanging of Windows. It used the same memory adresses as the expanded memory used for itself.

We took out the network card, installed 3 x 256mb and replaced the network card again. This solved the problems.

Thanks anyway for your information!
