Moses is a cool name. What if someone replied to your post with:
"what do ya call a guy in the ocean with no arms or legs? __BOB." :-lol
I've been quietly hoping for some NY screens too.

There's rather a lot to see in the New York City area, so here's a lengthy set of screen shots showing JFK airport, La Guardia and New York City itself.

Nice!
Unfortunately, it looks like the bug where high clouds (the cirrus clouds) gets cut off is still with us...

JFK looks great, especially the new terminals!
Only problem: the old terminal 4 is completely gone now in reality, while still somewhat there in the screenshot.
But I'll take it in a heartbeat. Heck of a lot better than the FS2002 JFK.

LAST EDITED ON Jun-28-03 AT 00:24AM (EDT)[p]Being a lifelong resident of New York City, all I have to say is WOW...
JFK looks especially stunning compared to the BS JFK we've had to suffer through so far in FS. They even got that bridge that leads to the rockaways (3rd shot) spot on. And the Verrazanno Narrows Bridge looks as impressive as it is in real life.

I do hope they improved Ellis Island, I was rather disappointed by what MS produced in FS02. Also, are those sails I see at the tip of Manhattan, I wonder if they move and whether there maybe be oil tankers and cargos ships as well although I feel that may be a little far-fetched? But most of all I would like to know whether the heliports for N.Y.C. have been included? Thanx for the shots by the way.

I've checked out as many screen shots, etc that I could find from MS & from the very generous screen shot offerings from the beta testers here & on other forums (many thanks from us all, your efforts are much appreciated in doing these for us)and I can answer your question about the tankers & ships. It is with great news that MS has increased the number of ships & boats in the water scenery. I've seen tankers & cargo ships in several screen shots.
Two other things I've noticed that didn't seem to be in FS 2002. Water towers. I've always found it odd that water towers had been left out in the past. I have a friend that is a retired GA pilot and he says that one way you can tell were you are at is read the name of the town on the water tower. Most towns & cities will put their name on at least one of the water towers in it's community.
The other is the ID of AI traffic in the new sim. It now names the kind of plane it is. You'll notice this in the above screen shots of NY. An AI plane ID is clearly marked as Piper.
Also noticed that auto-gen buildings seem to be better organized and arranged. You'll see in most cases, they are layed out properly along roads & streets as they would be in a community. Roofs are different colors and shapes too. The building types seem to be more varied too.
The sun looks very realistic and impressive compared to the near static yellow disc that we had before. But I've yet to see what the moon looks like in the new sim. One of the new texture changes I put on my FS 2002 was then new realistic stars set from the makers of the Clipper flying boat. That added a whole new dimenision to night flying. The file is based on real star charts and three levels of star magnitude (brightnesses) with over 9000 stars displayed........and it's free. Now I wonder if MS did this in the new sim? But am willing to wait & see. But a verbal reply would be nice. (screen shots not necessary)
Out of all the screen shots I've seen I have not found one that shows the splash effects when landing on water. That was another texture I changed in FS 2002. I could live with what was there originally but only made the change because it was available.
I've never had any major complaints about each version of FS when they came out and have always appreciated the improvements on each one as well. And FS 2002 was, IMHO, the greatest "jump" of improvement of them all. Sure my "wish list" has always been in my mind, don't we all. But that's human nature.
With all the improvements coming in the new sim, I have to safely say the main reason I am upgrading is the dynamic weather and new weather effects (including the clouds). Most of others (improvements), mainly textures, I am sure, most of us, already had replaced in our FS 2002's. Such as water & effects, sky environment, trees, auto-gen buildings, new sun, new moon, new stars, runways, nav-lights on the planes making them visible from inside the plane, additional AI traffic, taxiway signes, etc.
Nearly all of the new historic planes can be downloaded.
The other reason I am upgrading is all the addtional airport details added. Nearly all the airports I've seen in various screen shots have been greatly improved in appearance. More buildings & details as well. Also MS announced that at least 2000 more airports have been added.
If a beta tester is reading this, I wonder if meteor crater in AZ is in the new scenery as well as Devil's Tower in WY. One of the disappointments in FS 2002 was that Monument Valley was not represented in the scenery either. It would seem that all those flat top mountains shown in all those classic western movies weren't there to be seen in FS. Those would be fun to fly around and enjoy the sites. But again, all in all, FS 2002 had the best improvement jump from one version to the next IMHO. The last one before then was from version 4 to 5. I've owned every version of FS since FS II and some of those were for various computer types as well, C-64, Amiga, and PC.
Thanks again to all the beta testers for all the great screen shots of FS 2004 you've provided. It is much appreciated and has helped us all in our curiosity of the upcoming sim.

I've been able to get a hold of a few pics, and I do believe the sky and water effects, have been quite improved....
