They still have the purple line but it is an option, you do not request it from ATC. When you request to taxi they will give you taxi instructions like in FS2004. So I've heard.

Copy, and download an airport plate from "Approach Plates" or "MyAirplane.com".

And to remember you can write them down and if you miss it ask ATC to repeat..... that's how pilots do it on VATSIM with live air traffic control.

The pink line is still there but if you donīt like it, donīt ask ATC for it. And yes, on major airports you will have taxiway signs by default.
Kind Regards and Happy Landings!

"As Real As It Gets" has you handwriting the taxi sequence without text displayed in the ATC menu. However, I've read in some forums that you'll be able to consult the kneeboard (your co-pilot for this task) to read previous ATC instructions. I also saw in Frank Cubillos' post at the PAI screenshot forum that the lavender brick road can be selected in the ATC menu without announcing to ATC and the rest of the world that you are like a lost child at Harrod's.

I used to imagine the pink line being a little taxi man replacing his table tennis bats with a strong torch, shining it in a direction that leads you to the gate.

That was about the most surprising remark for me-imagine having to enter those data for 23000 airports! And do all of those have taxiway signs and lighting in real life? I suppose many are private dirt strips that don't even have runway markings...

One post said that the taxi instructions are automatically copied to the Kneeboard, so you can reference them anytime you want. Don't know if it's true, though.
Hope this helps,

Welcome to reality. :)
At Palwaukee airport, when the training aircraft I flew were located at North American Jet, a typical taxi clearance to 34 for takeoff was "Cessna 12345 taxi runway 34 via papa-lima-mike-yankee-delta, hold short runway 12". Thank goodness for the new main taxiway kilo, for taxis to 16 from GA are now essentially echo-kilo instead of echo-golf-delta-yankee-mike-lima plus a hold short or two. :)
Of course, that was confusing only for a couple of times. Eventually papa-lima-mike-yankee-delta just rolls right off the tongue with little thought. ;)
