View Full Version : How's this for an idea?

I was just reading a book on human factors in flight and I got this terrific idea for an FS addon. I was reading about how a pilot can withstand some G's in flight without a G suit. He (or she) would tighten their stomach muscles to prevent blood from rushing to their legs. Now here comes my idea: how about attaching some sort of sensor around your belly while you're flying and hooking it up to your computer. Then you'd clench your stomach muscles while performing high G maneuvers and this would enable you to sustain high G's without blacking out (in FS of course, unless someone can think of a way of actually making the person black out, but this might not be a very good idea). Is this a feasable idea for a FS addon? I know, I've got way too much time on my hands these days. Maybe I should take up another hobby, like knitting or basket weaving or something. :-lol

Start weaving baskets...... :)

Real "G's" can be quite uncomfortable. It can be an intense feeling of nausea and a great desire to "barf"!!

If we could feel G's in a desktop sim, some of our pitch & roll imputs might be substantially reduced! Real "feel" for combat simulations....... would be great! :)

I had an idea that was on the similer sort of lines and its where if you are in a GA plane and you spend to long at high altitudes then your vision starts to deteriorate and you could black out aswell and this could be simulated by at first the screen could turn a hue-ish red colour at the edges then the screen would slowly start to black out starting at the edges then if you dont lose altitude quickly the screen would totally black out and all you would have is the sound and you would have to dive without knowing which way you were going then when the plane was at an altitude of say FL070 - FL090 then the screen would suddenly clear again to simulate waking up and you could continue on your flight as normal, as long as you dont go too high again.

Then you could even make an addon which simulates having oxygen on the plane, you could make a switch for the cockpit panel which when turned on would stop the blacking out effect and a gauge to show you how much oxygen is left and this would be used for when you need to get over mountins or fly above bad weather,
obviously when your oxygen runs out in the middle of your flight then you know that it would be a risk to try and get above the weather incase of blackout so you would have to struggle through the bad weather instead. What do you all think? could this be done?

By the way, what ive been refering to is called hypoxia-dont know if ive spelled it right but i think you know what i mean.

I think pulling G's are fun, once you get used to it...but then again, I haven't pulled that many G's. I think the most I ever pulled in a Zlin was 3 to 4 G's pulling out of a spin. Its amazing how those Blue Angel's pull a lot more without a G suit. BTW, I'm looking into the basketweaving. :-lol
