Hi all,

Can anyone suggest a good primer for using the ILS system in FS2002? Having real problems getting the big jets onto the runway!

Thanks,

Try learning how to use ILS (tune, set course, etc) then flip the Flight Director on and follow the bars.

You can do a much better job of flying an ILS by using the CDI and GS displays than by following the flight director commands.

I agree, Flight Director is great but I've never actually benefited from it. I guess in a real cockpit it's more convenient to have the information "right there" on the attitude display but in FS it's all so close together anyway.

Real flight directors are great, but the FS flight director doesn't quite cut it. It doesn't always give the right indications, and it's too shallow with turns. If you follow the flight director to intercept a localizer you'll always fly right through it and have to S-turn to get established.
