Hi,
I know a lot of you people fly online.
I don't have internet @ so I can't join the club yet.
I have some questions, though:
1: I suppose only can fly in the default airports (addon
airports require different AFACD, not only parking are different but sometimes runways locations)
2. Are there "real" air traffic controllers?
3. I suppose there's no Project AI
4. Are there restrictions on what kind of aircraft / airline U can use in a certain region (I mean if a guy with an America West CRJ wants to fly within Romania, will he be allowed? (I would n9ot like to see that...)
5. Are there crazy people out there, making funny things like crashing into you on purpose?
Thanx
Nice flights,
Mircea.

How did you manage to write this message then? A V.90 modem is fully sufficient to fly online i.e. via the VATSIM ( http://www.vatsim.net ) network.

Artificial aircraft don't make sense since there is real traffic driven by real pilots directed by real controllers if you fly online. So AFCAD is of no use here.
>2. Are there "real" air traffic
>controllers?
Yes there are. With VATSIM there are even real life controllers offering their services in their spare time. And provided you have a fully duplex sound card and a headset with microphone they will talk to you using their real voice and you will answer them using your real voice.

See 1).

There are no such restrictions. Fly whatever you want to.

The world - even the virtual one - is full of idiots. So I can give no guarantee here. But since I'm a member of VATSIM (or their predecessor SATCO respectively) for more than four years there was no such "funny" event happening to me. VATSIM isn't "The Zone". We try to simulate the real thing. And we try to keep our virtual world clean. No intentional crashes here!

I'm at work. I can go on the net, I can even play sometimes, but not MFS, we have Mac's :-roll

OK so I suppose I can't use add-on airports :-(
I mainly fly between add-on airports.

That sounds great!

I was afraid of that! So Project AI gives you much more realistic traffic companions (in therms of airlines, of course).
On the other hand online alows you to interact with real people!
Thanx again, U're very kind!
Nice flights,
Mircea.

Of course you can use add-on airports! Everyone does. At least for the TWY signs... ;-)
But it doesn't make sense to have artificial aircraft taxiing or flying around your airport while flying online because the controller you're connected to isn't able to see nor to control them. (Even if he were they wouln't react wouldn't they!?)
>On the other hand online alows

Affirmative. That's it! That's what they call "As real as it gets".
