Hi,

After several attempts at getting this great addon to work, I have come asking for help. The installation goes fine (automatic install) and I also updated it to 1.004a. The problem is that the plane acts very strangely and the panel does not work. Even though the gauges file is installed it seems nothing is working, even after using auto-start. Secondly, the plane will not take off. even using a large 15000+ runway, it barely makes it. Does anyone know how to correct these problems?

My system is Win 98, does it not work on that maybe?

Thanks for any help.

Hi,

My first question is have you read the manual, not just a quick skim through but a good read.
EVERYTHING you need to know about this plane is in that manual.
I suspect that the panel isn't working because you have not gone through the correct start-up procedure, and I also suspect that the reason you can't take off is because you have not used the prop levers correctly.
read the manual it is all there.

Dan.

Try Looking Here > http://hangar.fsbaltic.net/dash8/
Thats the forum for Oleksiy Frolov's Dash 8-300 by "fanda" they will be able to answer all your questions.
His Dash 8-300 is a very complex aircraft and you will need to spend a couple of hours reading the manual to get it all down.
The manual should be located at C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\FS2002\aircraft\Dash8-Q300_2\doc\index.html

Mike and Dan are correct. Autostart WILL NOT WORK with this aircraft. It models all systems and procedures required in the real plane - and they don't have Ctrl+E. :D
Manual reading and following the instructions explicitly is the ONLY way you get this baby to fly.

A COUPLE OF HOURS!!!!! It took me weeks!!!! :)

It took me a couple of hours just to figure out how to start the engines!! :) And that was AFTER I had spent hours reading the manual.

Like the others have said .. you have to read and follow the manual. This is not like any other aircraft on the FS market in that you can simply jump in and go. This aircraft is unique.

Having said that, it is well worth the effort as the sound is as real as it gets for this aircraft and the knowledge needed to actually start one of these make it all worth while.

Well, strictly speaking that's not quite true. Hands up all those who remember that full systems Shorts 360 for FS2000? - that had 11 pages of checklists to get from dark to start.
Usually took me longer to start it than fly the commuter hops!

The only thing that the PSS has over the Oleskiy version is a good external model, that's about it. PSS must be hating this freeware aircraft!

Panel, flight dynamics and sound go to the freeware version (Oleskiy's).

Hi chas,

That shorts sounds good is it availiable anywhere?

Dan.

Yeah! Even the FS98 version was more complex than the "Fanda" thing. But I really like this "Dash-8-300" very much and I'd love to fly it more often if I only could read the gauges and text written on the panels in 1024x768x32... :-mad :-hmmm x(

BTW Getting this thing up to where it belongs to me was no problem at all following the little test flight tutorial starting at Augsburg, Germany.

Yep it is excellent freeware package. One q:does anyone know of
that shorts 360 and is there model for that in fs2002?I mean that
working panel etc.

Maybe you didn't start the hydraulic pumps.

BTW I solved the problem of not beeing able to read all this little text written on the panel and some of the instruments by changing FS display resolution from 1024x768x32 to 1152x864x32. I also changed the position and size of some of the subpanels by changing the panel.cfg and now I can fly this wonderful turbo even with my old monitors.

It's really one of the best available! Thanks again "Fanda"!

Thanks to Mike B, I released the control lock lever and, now the joystick works fine.
Thanks anyway.

I took the expensive way out and melded Oleksiys panel with the PSS model/textures, so the plane looks great, I have a 100% procedural working panel, and his sounds...

lets just say, I remember an analogous feeling when the woman said "I'll have what she's having" in "When Harry Met Sally"

Hi Brendan,

Could you send or post that aircraft.cfg somewhere for combining the PSS-8 with Oleksiy's D-8?

Thanks,

Things can get worse!

FS2002 running on Win XP Pro does not like the aircraft model, and crashes when you try to load the aircraft.

Tried for 3 weeks to fix it, and gave up.

Any ideas lads?

Make sure you have no periods in the aircraft title, or you will get a Library file error message.
