Well I found the solution to a problem I have been having with sutters since installing Dx 8.2 a few months ago. I would get the really bad stutters regularly which I finally traced to a sound problem. (I ran dxdiag but found nothing). They would go away when pressing "q" so I went in and turned the sound quality slider to medium. That seemed to do it, get the odd lttle stutter but pretty rarely. I run XP on a Dell 1.8 with 512 megs RAm and a geforce 64 and SBLive card. Anything else I can try to get the slider back up? I'll admit I don't hear much of a difference, but FS ran prefectly before 8.2. I guess FS has always put pretty low priority on sounds.

This corrected all of my problems. Many stutters and auto reboots and Flight sim errors.
In the performance options pop up box............. Change Under Memory Usage Adjust for best performance of (programs) to (system cache)
Everything got better for me.
I hope you are using wins xp. That's where it is

Yes I do run XP. I'll go and try it. I would have thought 512 megs ram enough but...
