I've seen a few threads talking about FS2004 like it's been announced already. I went to Microsofts website but I'd didn't see anything. In the Dreamfleet forum in one thread Lou Betti says FS2004 is 10 months away? Have I missed some announcement??

No announcements been made (yet). My guess is another couple of months before we hear anything official from MS. Anticipate an Oct '03' release.

I dont recall seeing any official announcements either, but some time back there was an interview with a high-up at MS who revealed that future development of FS2002 (patches, fixes, whatever) had been put on ice so that the team could concentrate on CFS3 and the next generation of Flight Sim. It was in one of the popular gaming magazines I think. My nephew showed it to me.

Let's also hope that it's not like FS2000!!!!

i am pretty sure i have seen it mentioned that cfs 3 and msfs have diverged and gone off in different directions, development-wise. cfs3 isn't all bad, it's just a bit different and demanding. :)

Most always announced at E3,most always shown in beta form at Oskosh, most always on shelves in Oct/Nov.

Lets just hope this doesn't follow the "every other version sucks" thats been around for about a decade.

You must remember that CFS3, requires many different graphics. Guns, explosions etc. These are very heavily demanding on the frame rates.
I dont think MS should concentrate on crashes - Its not something most people like to simulate!

FS2004? FS2004? Ahhh, you're talking about the FS2006 Beta! ;-)

Beside of that I sometimes get the feeling that there are two types of flightsimmers: The ones who love to fly and the ones who are always waiting for the next version...

The good news is that by the time FS2004 comes out i'll be a student and have my student loan to build a system capable of running it!

And now for another informed comment:

"Let's just hope FS 2004 is actually better than FS 2002, unlike what CFS3 was...."
