Make sure to have the 'external view' enabled in the modules/active camera menu. Then go to spot view, and you can walk around the aircraft by using the keys on the keypad. Use the middle mouse button to turn.

I read the manual, not fast though. I really have problems with clouds and textures with the newer version of active camera.

the oldest one (just the flyby function) works just fine.
the new "walk by" and all the fancy stuff does not work satisfying...

anyone else?

and guess what! I include my hardware specs :-jumpy :-lol :-lol

Pentium IV 2.4ghz
768 MB DDR SDram
Geforce 4 TI4400
win XP pro
directx 8.1
newest driver for graphic card....
SB Live! original drivers! they work fine for me...?!
locked at 25 fps as the manual says, gets usually 17-25 fps

Everything AOK here, except that occasionally after switching off the fly-by function I get an error in texture rendering with multiple renditions.

Easily fixed by cycling the views a few times. I also only use the walk-by function on the ground as it also creates some strange scenery anomalies from certain angles in the air.

As the program is messing with the bloatware that is MS code, and even MS can't get that right, I forgive it..!

It's one of those `how ever did we manage before` programs...! It has utterly transformed VC flying for me.

(Thinks: Must try it in CFS2...)

thanks Simon,

I check again with DX 8.2 and similar updates as well.
perhaps I was only experiencing the flaws you describe, but I had less patience..;)

Hi Simon,

Just for your information (and because you are always ready to help on this forum), we discovered yesterday an issue (reported by a simmer). When using the external pilot view in the Austral hemisphere e.g. in Australia or South Africa, the pilot seems to be drunk ! He walks completely crazy. In fact it is due to the coordinates system we use. How closer to the South Pole, how more the front/back, left/right movements are inverted and not "refreshed" (shocks). Give it a try. We know the problem now and it will be fixed in the new upgrade released next year.

Regarding the weird graphic effects it doesn't happen when walking on airports featuring customized tiles. It is well the case with FS default tiles.

Serge,

Thanks for that - certainly added to the sum total of my knowledge..! Can't say I fly much in the Southern Hemisphere myself but it just proves it's them bloody Southerners who're upside down.:-wave
