Big lag in menu bring up/view change with MX460

I've just upgraded to an MX460 (currenly using 40.71 beta driver). Whilst I have noted a decent improvement in graphics quality and fps, every time I try to open the menu or change to a different view, there is a huge lag (15-20 secs). Another quirk is that I cannot start engines using the ignition - game just hangs whilst I l-click the mouse.

I'm thinking of taking it back in exchange for a ti-4400, but in the meantime, I'd be grateful if anyone has any wisdom...
