Let the games begin! Could I suggest the start of a thread to compare thoughts on these two programs. I have neither and would appreciate some feedback. As it is 12.40 in Sydney, I'm off to bed and will leave this post to the collective brains-trust on this great site.
Cheers, Chris.

MyTraffic is a lot of fictive (but realistic looking) traffic the easy way, PAI is a lot of real traffic the hard way (install of PAI is a pain, and those people who says otherwise must have more sparetime than I do). :)

I am just sitting around waiting for the new PAI installer so I can have a lot of real traffic the easy way. :D

Since I discovered ProjectAI (PAI) I hardly fly anymore... All I do is play with the aircraft and mess with the airports to get more parking! I don't know about "MyTraffic" but I do love what comes out of PAI even if it isn't always perfect...

It's great to hear something out of ATC other than "Landmark", "Orbit", etc...

As I understand it, Project AI lended their textures and resources to the MyTraffic team as a cooperative effort. Therefore, there really is no competition. Besides, Project AI is free, so that (for me, anyways) makes it a lot more appealing to me, besides the fact I know a few people who are working for the Project AI staff.

If I'm wrong about this, feel free to correct me. :-wave

Maybe I did not do it right, but I just downloaded the United package and ran the program, it auto-installed and I am off and running.

Did I do it wrong??

LAST EDITED ON Oct-20-02 AT 06:18PM (EDT)[p]MikeS,

Believe me... I did it wrong five or six times before I got it right...

#1. You have to install the BASE file first... (you'll find it mentioned in the heading of the download section)

Make sure you check the small box if you want small GA aircraft. I believe this BASE file removes the ORBITS, LANDMARKS ETC... Then install Olympic and Air France... These apparently put in a missing airfield or two... (Not sure where)... Then you can install all of the others in any way you wish.. Since I never fly in Africa, I haven't bothered to load them... yet.

Hope this helps...

Charles

P.S. Now I'm trying to make room for all of the aircraft!

Thanks guys for your thoughts. I like to fly out of Alaska with a mix of bush flights and flights to the lower 48. Do you believe with either of these programs I may loose more AI than I gain. Eg MT has nothing out of Fairbanks and Juneau. Both programs look to have a lot to offer those flying the lower 48 and Western Europe. With PAI is it easy to switch their AI off and fly with the MS default AI in areas that PAI don't have much flying?

Your thoughts please.

Cherrs, Chris.

ah..

I was doing it wrong afterall. After reading another post I have to assume that at this point I am not going to be able to recover without a total reinstall, I am not sure it is worth it.

Too bad, I had read about the base installer but it was not clear to me, I somhow assumed that it was for people that wanted to MODIFY traffic themselves in conjunction with the separate airlines.

bummer

I do alot of flying around Alaska as well. I installed the PAI base installer with the General Aviation option installed and my AI flightplans in AK are no different that the Base FS2K2 installation prior to installing any PAI packages. Perhaps your GA got deleted inadvertantly?
