View Full Version : Xtasy Geforce 4 Ti 4200 Fs2002 locks up in 3d acceleration mode
When i begin running fs2002 and find my self on the runway at megis any rerendering of the fs2002 enviornment causes a lock up. If i change views or if i provide thrust for the air craftto begin moving. when i deselect 3d acceleration the game works fine but looks absolutly horrible does anybody have this card and have resolvedthese issues. I've tried all the latest detonator drivers for the card and none of them help.
Also i notice i couldnt' find any patches for FS2002
any help would be appreciated.

List your system specs, so we have an idea what you have.
Have you been able to run the sim with any other video card?
I have this card in my system, works fine.
Most lockups have been traced to overheating, try removing the case cover and putting a small table fan where it blows directly on the cards. If it then runs fine, you will need to add more fans to your system.

No patches available, or forthcoming.

I have an Amd 2100
epox kt333
512 mb 2700 corsair.
its' the first system i've built for myself and the bios load indicates that the core temperature can top out sometimes at 135 deg. F. I agreee that's hot but before i installed the nvidia card i had an earlier product of theres the Viper TNT 2 v770 running fine. i removed that card because of it's innability to render other games with higher geometric detail. The viper was working fine in FS2k2. I'll try the table fan thing
i appreciate the help , thanks.

I have a Ti4200 and posted a message yesterday regarding a problem with DirectX, I am not sure if this is specific to my Gainward card or not, but it might help. The symptoms are pretty similar whereby it seems that everything is working fine, but in reality games won't work with hardware acceleration on.
Go to dxdiag.exe and perform all the tests for DirectX graphics acceleration (test 3D). If an error comes up on the hardware test (normally the second part), then let me know and I will get back to you.

The GF card produces twice as much heat as the old Viper. FS stresses the video card more than any other program. Therefore you may have a classic overheating problem, assuming that you have looked at other alternatives like BIOS settings, AGP Aperture, Fast Writes OFF, Sidebar Addressing OFF, the appropriate AGP acceleration selected for your system, etc. etc.

Has recommendations for BIOS settings to suit Nvidia-based cards. Change one thing at a time until it works. If it doesn't then you need more cooling.

I returned the Xtasy and replaced it with an radeon 8500 le and the game works fine as far as i can tell. i dont' think it was a heat issue. i may go back to Geforce but i'm gonna try the gainward 650 128 when that comes out here. lotsa heatsinks on board.
