Re-start computer problem?

I don't know if anybody else has had this problem or knows a fix for it?

Recently I have noticed everytime I am prompted to restart my computer after installing a program or something, instead of re-booting itself, it goes into hibernation, and I have to then turn off the computer at the switch, and turn it back on again.

We can see what others have to say. My "smeller" says virus.

try disactivating the "APM" advanced power management function in the bios and try again. In my experience this function can sometimes not play too well with the power management features of MS windows and conflicts occur. A long shot but worth a try

Hopefully not a virus, I do keep my virus scanner right up to date. I had a look in the bios as I seem to remember seeing power management in there, but no good as yet. I am certain no adjustments have been made by me to change anything since it was last working OK?
