when i disengage autopilot my plane either heads straight up or down and i have to pull up or down to level out. what can i do so that when i turn auto pilot off the plane just flies level?

Try trimming to straight and level before engaging Alt Hold. If that doesn't work you'll need to trim it again to relax the pressure on the stick...Don

Top Gun's post sounds pretty much right on! Also are you disengaging Auto Throttle at the same time?

nope i have the most problems on the baron 58. i just turn off the altitude and it just drops normally

your saying level off before i turn on autopilot?

I have the same problem. I usually just turn off the autopilot at cruise level for a moment to tune it up, so that it will be leveled when I turn off the AP when landing. Feels really unprofessional so I would be happy to find a better way! I always thought it was because I fly without a joystick, that is not centered.

well that seams to solved the problem, but ya seams weird to have to do that though
