You have a choice of not buying it anyway. Let your money do the talking.

I'm generally pleased with Flight so far, but this idea of selling external-model only aircraft is utterly insane!
The feedback on the Flight website is almost unanimously opposed to this notion. Microsoft? WTF?
I wont even fly anything without a decent VC in FSX! Why would I pay for no cockpit at all? — Bob

Absolutely agree, I did buy the p-51 but not again. No cockpit means I won't be buying.

Josh... this is the result of your market research? LMAO
You have built a product to satisfy corporate greed, you support it with cherry picked research that only agrees with your lies, and then disregard the wants of your current (loyal) customers as being immature and attempt to smear their image.
Doesn't sound like a winning formula to success to me. What did you really think was going to happen?

Other than museums, are there even any privately owned zeros in Hawaii? I can't imagine the locals, or the thousands of service men and women, wanting to look up to see Dick Johnson putzing around in his restored, or replica, AM6.

Yeah, that's a huge insult to us. :(.

If you want a cockpit it will come as an additional DLC. boo!

Buyer beware.
Microsoft has clearly indicated that there will be two types of planes sold for Flight. One kind (higher priced) includes cockpits, the other (lower priced) is for external flying only. There is no secret about this so just be an informed buyer when offered new DLC.
The marketplace will ultimately decide whether this is a good idea or not.

Well, in a way, to stick up for Flight, its sort of like my Real Flight R/C flight Simulator. There are no cockpits except in 3D Mode, using non photographic fields, which I find that highly unrealistic at their part, because R/C Flying is done externally, so it's funny --- I don't mind flying that way in the R/C sim, but Microsoft? To me it just doesn't mix for some reason.

I don't see a problem
As I understand it, the download is available but give you the option to pay less to avoid you not having to pay for something you don't want.

I actually do most of my "flying" outside of the plane, especially in sight seeing trips, races, hoops, etc. However, I spend a lot of time switching between internal and external, and even between 2d and virtual panels, depending on what I am doing. To make me happy, I need the option.
However, I don't need a zero, and I especially don't need to pay for one that doesn't come with a cockpit. I thought Flight would have come out stronger with their first post launch airplane. Maybe they thought everyone would still be so flight crazy so soon after launch that we would fiend for anything new they threw our way.

Nope. The p51 and the zero do not come with cockpits, nor are cockpits available (right now).
The problem? Anyone with a decent pc can buy a copy of FSX Gold for $40, which comes with 20 airplanes/choppers and probably triple that in liveries. Next I can come to this site and download a complete freeware AM6 with multiple liveries, and then fly it anywhere in the world including my home airports. So the problem is that FS fans have been accustomed to a steak dinner, and now MS is force feeding us bread crumbs at a higher price and acting like we should like it. One day FSX wont run anymore on newer machines, and the golden age of MSFS will be dead.

Isn't it time we moved on?
Yes I agree with mgh. Move on and if you enjoy FSX so much or FS2004 for that matter just stay away from this forum. I have been visiting these forums since the late 90s. You don't see me ranting and raving about flight has not got this or that or compare it to FSX because that is not !! what it is a replacement, so just leave it alone and go home, and as Nels said you should do a bit of reading before you download or before you start mouthing off.

I'm a Flight user, and I have a right to disappointed with their decision and the ability to express that here if the owner of the message board feels like I didn't cross a line.
But looking back I do recognize that my post was indeed more venting than constructive, and I apologize.

Fellow Simmers,
Microsoft is a business and they intend to make money on any product they create and sell. MS Flight is a Microsoft product and they developed it to attract people into the activity of simulated flying, give them a satisfying early experience, then offer them additional products to expand their participation. Sound familiar?
If you don't enjoy MS Flight, don't use it. You are not the target of of evil minded individuals trying to degrade your flightsimming experience. Do what you enjoy, its supposed to fun.
good flights, Cal
