How do we get it and how much per state? What about that company who created photo-scenery for the whole world? Are they out of business now? Will their product work with "Flight"?

I think what MS has done is atrocious! I used to brag about how the sim had EVERY airport in the world. As far as i can see, not only does it not, but you have to purchase each state individually now?

Someone please tell me I'm mistaken!

Flight does not cover the world. At the moment there is a DLC pack for the Hawaiian Islands and one has been announced for Alaska. Flight is a closed system so no addons from FS9/FSX will work on it. If you want the workld then FS9 and FSX are still alive and well supported :)

It is perhaps worth re-iterating that Flight is not FS11, neither are Flight and FS9/X mutually exclusive. They are targeted at different audiences. Flight is starting small but we hope that it will have a long and interesting development path.....

Well, based on my limited knowledge of this sim.... (sigh)... MS has just slit it's throat! There is irony to this. The other day i was looking at the fltsim site and saw an add-on plane for $40. I though whoa.... heh, that's a lot for one plane being as how the sim as a whole was only $70. However, if someone really wants a specific plane, then power to them and they should have that plane available to them (and i know how much time it takes to develope a nice plane). I've even bought a couple myself!

MS has really neutered the sim! I can't even imagine how much it's going to cost to get the world scenery back into the sim. Hundreds, if not thousands of dollars! I'm anxious to see how MS is going to handle this...but based on my speculations.... again, they slit their own throat! All the people who have spent so much money on add-ons can no longer use them? Even that I can live with, but to make us buy one piece at a time what we already had in previous versions?

Thank God MS has the OS to rely on.... it's THIS reporter's opinion that the FS world is not going to be worth their efforts based on what i'm seeing now because in this economy, WHO can afford to pay this kind of money to get something that they once could get for $70!.... POOP!

At the risk of being contentious. MS has done nothing to negate or destroy the sim that covers the situations you describe. It is called FSX (although FS9 is still alive and kicking). So for those folks who want the world and jets and ATC etc etc then FSX is the thing. It is well supported by the community and has a long life. True MS has not done those things to FSX that we hoped for. However when they closed the ACES team that built it we knew that would never happen.

So at the risk of repeating myself. Flight is not FS11. It never was and never will be. We may not agree with what MS have done but that is for them - it will not cost us anything if Flight fails....

Gads, your reply is SO irrelevant to my post (with all due respect). I never said anything about FSX. We're talking about "Flight" and it's digression of what's included comparatively speaking to all the previous versions MS has produced (and I've had all of them since the fltsim conception). Instead of giving us more, MS has elected to remove HUGE features included in previous versions and now want to sell us those feathers piece by piece. I have, and will keep FSX on my computer. I intend on purchasing the whole world photo scenery from that company who has in for sale on an exterior hard drive.

I see NOTHING positive about "flight"... I do NOT want to spend hundreds of dollars to maintain what previous versions came with out of the box. It's all about progression... not digression. Add on to what we had... but do NOT remove what we had... then charge us to get it back.

I almost feel that MS has sold us a plane wheel... and if we want the rest of the plane, we have to purchase it piece by piece (I'm exaggerating obviously), but this IMO isn't too far off from what I perceive as the facts.
