Well I downloaded Microsoft's Flight. First impression: the graphics are awesome. This is what should be a service pack for fsx to really be as real as it gets. The rest of the game is so-so. I am not impressed with the play. You have to purchase everything! Very limited scenery offering only one island in Hawaii; one aircraft the Icon A5. No ATC; no AI traffic. Granted, this all may come at a later date but why not include in now? I guess Microsoft wants to maximize profits by selling addons for this game. If that's the case, the game will be a flop. As far as I can tell, none of FSX's addons are compatible with Flight, further, I wouldn't even know how to add them if they were compatible.
I have explored Flight for a couple of hours now and the only thing that really stands out are the graphics. Free flight is fair. You have to setup whether you want to use your mouse or a joystick controller. Using the mouse takes some getting used to. For any addons etc., you will have to sign up for a Windows Live account or an X box account.
I will have to wait and see what Micro$oft is going to do with this game. I sure wish they could port the games engine over to FSX, wow would that be an improvement over the current FSX engine.

If the flight engine was moved to fsx, fsx addons wouldn't be compatible with it. Flight will not be a flop, they just need to make your favourite plane and scenery area, you buy both for $40 and they've made more money than they did with fsx. As for an xbox account, sign up now to get a free stearman and potentially more free stuff in the future.

I downloaded Flight; it took quite a while. I loaded it. The graphics are neat, but the rest was poor, a very weak effort. Flight stayed on my computer for less time than it took to download. If I ever move away from FS9 it will be to FSX. I will not return to Flight.
