The real star of Flight is the sea...Easily the best I have seen. It is best viewed by flying along directly over the coast at about 1000 feet...Then go into free view (F11) and pan with your hat switch till the Sun's reflections are bouncing of the tops of the waves to your eye. You may need to be behind the aircraft of ahead of it to see the best sparkles but you will soon spot the best view. Screenshots will show the sparkle but not their movement. However, I have taken a few screenshots today:-

Nice! Is there an in-game screen shot button or how did you capture them?

The real star of FLIGHT is the Performance.

Wow...are the waves more natural looking as they wash onto the beach?

So many good things about FLIGHT... shame everyone would hate it even if MS gave out free home-built cockpits with it, a real world Icon A5 and entered you into a prize draw to win the Holy Grail.

Nice screenshots Pete.
However, i think you could brighten your gamma settings on your monitor a little - looks a bit dark to me.
Actually having fun with this, having bought FSX, FS9 in the past. I was recently going to re-install FSX and all my add-ons, but was actually dreading the install and setup process, (takes an age) then saw that Flight was released. Took about 10 minutes to install and setup and it runs perfect "out of the box" and looks a darn sight better than FSX. Its free to try !......... I'm happy, and i've even bought the DLC - Hawaii Scenery and the Maule !

I acutally don't like the water because it looks static or the waves move slower and less noticable than FSX.

I did like the Icon, but its too bad they never made it for FSX. Other than that, that's the best thing of the sim......:(

The ocean water is definitely eye catching. I don't know if anyone has gone ahead and purchased the Hawaiian Adventures DLC. There's a challenge where you fly into the Mauna Loa Volcano crater and see lava and gases rising up. Pretty good visuals and I have yet to fly into the crater at night. Overall, with the Hawaii DLC you get all of the islands, more challenges and the Vans RV6 aircraft. One of the better aspects of Flight are how well the larger airports are depicted. I've flown around Kahului (Maui), Honolulu (Oahu) and Lihue (Kauai) and see good detail of the Terminals and hangers. I have all of FS Dreamteam's Hawaiian airports for FSX and I say the look very good compared to those. One nice touch the FSX airports have moving airport service vehicles.

I enjoy flying in the Hawaiian Islands and have found my experience in Flight to be a good one. Nice core engine and scenery provide great VFR flying at low altitudes with no stuttering, just smooth flight.

Nice screenshots, by the way. I'll have to press the "V" key and post some shots, myself.

Considering they had years to perfect this area of small ocean and portray it in the most realistic way possible i would say its rather boring looking and not much if any better than FSX with REX...sure some people may say its better but its not exactly cool or amazing is it!..why post such boring repetitive pictures which look so stagnant and sterile?

Consider these REAL pictures of what the seas should look like around Hawaii and you will soon realise that the pics shown above look rather limited, simple and boring!...

Notice the darkening of the water as the depth increases...cant see this simple effect in MS flight!

That's because they're not REAL!

to me the sea look like a modelled piece of plastic !

What i would see well on those islands is a nice photorealistic coverage - with full autogen on top !! - nothing can beat that !!

After a few hours playing with this my opinions are thus: They took FX and gutted it to make a simplified game for everyone. My 2.7 core duo 5 years old runs FX really toned back. With flight I can run with everything at max and the reason why is it's a simplified program with much less going on than in fx. Look at the limitations with weather and the decrease in all the parameters you have as compared to FX. Also though the icon is a nice plane the instruments and graphics looked pretty poor compared to Fx planes in general.

I've been a Flight Sim fan a very long time and had every version since way before 98 came out and I've thought each version made things better and better but this is a big step back. yea it has some eye candy to it but overall I'm done with it.
