As per title, I realize this is minor, but I wonder why MS claims the P51 is so new? I'm looking at it right now in FSX.

I guess newly re designed or something. And the Maule isn't new. The only one I think I would be interested in is the Vans.

The p51 is new because the first version will be flown from spot view only. Doesn't that sound like fun?

Well then, all I will say is, too bad they don't release FS or Flight as often as they release Word.

If I want spot view, I'll use my Real Flight G5.5 sim --- even that comes with interiors for R/C aircraft, but I don't use that feature. I keep it as real as it gets.....

As long as we're being trivial, the P-51 is FSX Acceleration is actually an F-51 modified for the racing circuit. The P-51 in Flight looks all new to me.

Who would want to fly anything other than spot view? I, for one, think spotview is the best for collecting coins and finding caches. (I can barely keep a straight face)

I hate 2D panels and Virtual cockpit. They cockpit block my spot view airplane.

John Thuot IIHonestly, if Microsoft is going clown shoes, I hope they go all the way. It's this middle of the road garbage that is stupid. I flippin' loved pilotwings. I want birds, too.

It's getting better with each expansion, as promised. What more could you ask for??

My guess would be that the P-51 to be made available in Flight at this time is without a cockpit so they (MS) can test market different price point/feature sets.

To simulate RC in FSX, I use a custom TALL Tower(ADE9X) and it's view in an open area. I absolutely love Tim "Piglet" Conrad's PT 19 for that.
With the blue and yellow livery it reminds me of the Cox version from my early gas modeling days.

A P-51, or any plane, chasing tokens wouldn't require anything but a set of crosshairs, so, I guess we should consider ourselves quite fortunate to get more than that....Don

The tethered model? Those were great. I beaned my cousin once with one. Apparently he didn't understand the "stand back" method of tethered RC observation. No gold coins were found afterward, although I was credited with 100 points and earned the family's "Slice your cousins head open with an RC aircraft" award.

The tethered model? Those were great.I had one of each old Control Line Cox planes I could find in my collection back then.
I donated them all to our now defunct flying club, for a fundraising auction to help defer the costs of our Flying Field's lease, only to lose the location after 20yrs.
We had two runways, four Combat circles, and a 25 acre lake for the Rag hauler and Stink Pot modelers amongst us. Porta Potties, the whole shebang.
A local developer bought the adjacent parcel and created a subdivision, which in turn complaned to the township's Board about the noise.
New noise ordinances and land use permits shut us down. It didn't matter to them that we were also introducing a few dozen youngsters to a healthy hobby...Don

This is exactly how I feel also. PW for the win!
