View Full Version : Scenery Library Hierarchy-- Should types of files be grouped in certain orders?

At first I thought this was something that really didn't matter much, so I ignored it and put files wherever I felt like it. Then issues not too long ago with certain payware terrain meshes I purchased, has brought it further to my attention... and now I'd like to ask to be sure.

I took a screen-shot of my scenery library, as it looked around mid to late November of 2011. If you read my notes on the right side and follow the arrows & numbers, does it look like I could be placing some of these more appropriately, or is my grouping fine for the time being? I believe at one point I had "Addon Scenery" below "Oceania", which was causing some override problems when a correction for an airport in Hawaii (which was supposed to be housed in the 'Addon Scenery' listing), was being superimposed ontop of the default airport (which was housed in 'Oceania').

I had since fixed that problem by moving "Addon Scenery" well above the region areas for the default airports, but I'm wondering if I'm missing anything else which might one day cause problems?

Thanks,

It doesn't matter how many sceneries you have installed. never misplace the default FS2004's installed original files. Everything that you install must be above them, unless the scenery designer specifies a given scenery area number

Mesh being the 3D model of the terrain, it should go at the bottom of its group of scenery (so it loads first) but always above the default files (so it overrides them).
