Well, all speculation aside, I'd LOVE to know what's going on in the meeting rooms at the Microsoft Game Studios right now. Regardless of how well the game will or won't do and the features it does or doesn't have, the negative reaction is astounding.

When I need a laugh, I go here:
http://www.facebook.com/#!/msflight

These guys are getting destroyed on their home court AND out in the community. Of course they expected 'sim' types to be apprehensive, but the pucker factor has to be at an all time high right now, with a release in beta that is one of the most HATED titles I've ever heard of. I wonder how many jobs are on the line right now. Strategy or not, the execs at Microsoft have probably alraedy called the game studio managers up for negative meetings. OF COURSE they look here and on the Facebook page for reactions.

What would happen if you owned a aircraft manufacturer, and your engineers came up with something potentially marketable but got SLAMMED by everyone that laid eyes on it? You'd be pretty darned nervous.

Did you realize that MS expected all these crap reactions MANY months ago and they don't care about these crap reactions and those that make these crap reactions are not the target market of Flight?

My guess is that they didn't expect the reactions to be this overwhelming, but I agree they probably aren't that concerned because you're right, we aren't the target demographic for flight.

When they say they 'remain committed' to the simulator guys, it just means they'd love it if we bought expansions along with the rest of the people.

I just don't understand who thinks casual simmers are going to buy addons.

Wonder if it will be released on X-Box? It won't be that long to wait to find out what's going on.

I could be mistaken, but their approach really seems to put a damper on enthusiasm in general.

Depends how much they cost

Another hint that they really aren't concerned is the fact they haven't addressed with any statements or responses to the public disappointment. I am really, really, crossing my fingers thatt they eventually bring in ATC, AI and reasonable costs to add-ons. I must admit, as much as it Pis**es me off that this is what we are initially getting, the Hawaii scenery does look awesome.

I think the uproar proves how important Flight Simulator is. I am hoping that MS will recinsider and repackage it back into Flight Simulator in the standard format. I believe in Santy Clause also!

You're joking, right?

The stats on the Facebook page as of 30 seconds ago:

That's really not all that many people. Too bad there's no "Dislike" button on Facebook!

Depends how much they costI really doubt it one way or the other. Either you're into flight games or you're not. There's really a polarization here. An arcade game won't please the serious simmers, and the casual people won't spend more than a minute or two playing with it and collecting coins, let alone spending 5-10 dollars here and there to add more boring islands and airplanes they aren't excited about.

Building a reward system where you can get a free stearman by signing up for certain services is stupid too as it pertains to casual simmers. I'm so stinking sick of creating logins and joining memberships everywhere I go on the worldwide web just to have access to basic services. Now I just refuse to watch 30 second long commercials and create elaborate logins. I just don't do it!

That's right.
