This thing has been going on for way too long, so I decided to seek help here. I have recently reformatted my harddisk and I had to reinstall fsx. Now, when I launch fsx in free flight on a 737, it has a black cusor and it is impossible for me to set the AP. So I have yet to find a solution online. Could anybody help pls??!! I really need help asap. All help will be greatly appreciated :)

No specs, so here we go again with the guesswork...
When you reformatted yr disk and reinstalled everything, did you downloaded the latest drivers for all yr hardware (specially GPU) ?
The drivers on the CDs supplied with hardware are mostly dated before WW2.

It's the mouse scheme. Go into your control panel, choose mouse, set the scheme to None.

Not necessarily. I had this problem with certian video drivers. We need to know what card and driver the OP is using (and his OS)
I can remember specifically the Nvidia 182.50 driver causing this and a few others at times.

Oops! Sorry forgot about it. I have a compaq pesario SR5680CF with a intel core 2 quad processor @2.33ghZ .3GB DDR2 ram, widows vista 32bit. Resolution 1400x900. My graphic card is the Nivdia Geforce 9500S. I recently updated my Nivdia. But I'm not sure how to check for the video card :)

Quote from another sim site:
'Looks like it's the pointer schemes for the mouse pointers that is the culprit. Setting pointer scheme to any scheme besides 'None' gives me the black pointer in FSX. Guess I will have to live with generic pointers if I want normal pointers in FSX.'
(I guess AJ was right).

I'm using the default mouse pointer. And the black cursor only happens in game. It does not happen anywhere else

Suggest trying a different video driver. I found the 197.45 the best, though that does not apply to every system. You can download these from the Nvidia site.

'I'm using the default mouse pointer.'
Not talking about 'pointer'. Talking about 'Scheme'. Read again: (from AJ): 'It's the mouse scheme. Go into your control panel, choose mouse, set the scheme to None'. I'm just trying to help. (Not sure how it 'sounds'). I know. It might be new. Hey-no problem. Dang Sim is 'high maintenance'. Some of these 'schemes' give the pointer 'shadow', etc. So, it might be FSX or it might be your video card not working with OS (ie: DRIVERS, as mentioned before). Happens. Good luck.
