When I first start up FSX, the aircraft a Boeing 737-800 (and others) appear normal size on the runway. Having ended that flight and started a new flight the Boeing 737-800 (and others) appears on the runway at about 3x their original size.
Can anyone offer an explanation for this, please ?

Are your drivers up to date? I always check that first in these types of display situations.

Maybe you zoomed in (or zoomed in by mistake)

Sorry Ian, I didn't do that. I have exhausted most possibilities, even changed resolutions to no avail :(

Are you viewing in the same view mode? e.g. viewing in spot view and then loading a new flight in tower view for example?

I really can't imagine anything else that could cause this problem and have never observed anything like it in many years of flight simming.

I don't understand what you consider "normal size" and "3x the normal size". Could you post a screenie to make things clear ?

When FSX has initialised and i press FLY NOW to initiate first flight, the aircraft looks like this:

Having completed that flight and having pressed END FLIGHT i return to the FLY NOW screen. When I press the FLY NOW button, the aircraft now looks like this:

I have FSX set up on my laptop also and I get exactly the same results with Intel Graphics chip :(

The only way around it would appear to be to cancel FSX altogether and start from scratch each time :(

This happened to me, too. The camera for some reason got close to the plane. Press and hold Ctrl and =. The camera will get away from the plane and the plane will look normal.

Thank you, Alexander, that seems to have cured the problem. A typical example of how the simplest solutions on occasions elude our technical minds.

Hello desperion,

Having now seen your screenshots I've also had this problem, and still do to some extent, especially when I've been zooming in and out, taking screenshots from various angles, moving from VC to outside, etc, etc, so, you are not alone. I just exited the game altogether, set up the same co-ordinates and I was able to get back in to how it was, a bit of a pain in the bum I know, but, it is just one of FSX's little quirks, I think.

Cheerz. Transport Steve.

Hi Steve,

I agree it is a bit of hassle, but I think I can cope with the simle operation of the camera zoom controls :) As you say it appears to be one of those quirks which some are (or many ?) are suffering in silence. I wonder if anyone has found a cure for it yet ? Anyway, thanks for your help :)
