I had this game for over 10 years flew it once and gave up - now I consider it the best 'SIM' out there.

I restarted with Open Falcon and learned alot in 50 hours of simming - then support left for it - Now I fly FA4AF on:

I have 50+ hours and have started a campaign finally - they have some advanced training there and a fairly active crew along with a grounpounder crew (LOL) who get on BFBC2 - I dont play that; I like Arma2 and America's Army; in Arma2 you can fly helos (I dont care for Op Arrowhead)), and they say Arma1 is even better...

The website for the 388th looks pretty nice. Is this virtual unit flying a newer version of Falcon and if so, what is it ? Can you fly an A-10 and still be apart of the 388th ?

Hawkeye, I still have my old version of Falcon 4.0. I installed it and tried to fly it using Vista's Win98 emulation. Not good; keyboard only, no joystick and pedals worked with it. Is there an upgrade or something like a patch I can get to make it run properly again? I'm an old pro (was) at it for many years and still have the first floppy disk version 1.0 from Spectrum Holobyte, Falcon AT, Falcon 3.0 AOTK and Falcon Gold.
It'd be cool to fly her again.

I also loved Falcon but stopped with the Falcon Gold. The combat tutorial "Art of the Kill" which came with the game was superb, but I have never been able to replay it on modern systems. It uses .fvf video files which don't seem to be compatible with any video player I have found. Has anybody been able to get AOTK running?

aye! I was trying to get into F4 scene as everybody were saying how awesome it is, but the lack of modern features (6dof TIR and high resolution 3D cockpit) turned me away. But it was good for practicing avionics and systems.

Who cares about visuals? Falcon4 (AF) still has the best campaign system.
Better than the canned missions of LOMAC and DCS.

Check out FreeFalcon. Most of the features of F:AF, but much nicer visuals. Also, things like JDAMs and GPS actually work in FF.

Benchmarksims have been around for a long time already. They're not exactly new. So, they're at it again with another of their incarnations?

I think FreeFalcon might make BMS run for their money. They're just as great in their mods of F4.

I've played all the Falcon versions, and BMS 4 is by far the best in my book. I've already uninstalled FF 5.5. The new F-16 flightmodel in BMS 4 is fantastic.

BenchMarkSims 4.0 as in the posted link from post #11 above. It's another mod for the good old Falcon 4.0. But in order for it to work, I think you will still need the older Falcon 4.0 first. Falcon 4.0:Allied Force is different than Falcon 4.0, just so you know.

Zork, I have FF5.0 and was thinking about upgrading to 5.55. But where can I get hold of BMS Falcon? I still have the original Falcon 1.0, up the the last version of Falcon 4.

Ok so I am new to Falcon 4.0 AF. That being said it is very complicated!!!!! Like some of the controls I cant even figure out because I don't understand the what the command is referring to. I'm coming from CFS3 which is very simple to fly. Are there any good resources to learn about this game? I am lost please help.

Check out benchmarksims.org. Falcon BMS is a really cool addition to Falcon and greatly improves the game...
