Hey all, is it suggested to rebuild the cfg after a video card upgrade?
My question is about different tweaks, i almost feel like not applying any tweaks like bufferpools etc?
When recreating a cfg it asks me about key mapping and never know if i need to say yes or no, also most of my 3rd party add ons need to run atleast once in order to write to the cfg file, can anyone explain what is happening or what they do in this scenario?

If your questioning why i may be messing in the cfg , its because i upgraded to a new video car (gtx 480) and have this feeling of starting fresh, not sure if this even matters!

I have never deleted the fsx.cfg file after a video card installation.
I have found, though, that whenever a video driver gets re-installed you often get an additional Display.Device entry. So, what I do after a video card/driver install, is go through the fsx.cfg file and delete any duplicates.
In my case, all I want to see is one entry like this:

[DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460.0]
Mode=1680x1050x32
TriLinear=1

Maybe a way around searching the cfg file for duplicates is to simply delete it and let it rebuild but then I'd have to re-enter the custom tweaks I've added. And as for tweaks, I firmly believe after monkeying with multiple tweaks during the first couple years with FSX that only a very few tweaks to the fsx.cfg file are really necessary. The only tweaks I now use are these (which are talked about this guide (http://www.simforums.com/forums/topic29041_page1.html)):

TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=XX
WideViewAspect=True
DisablePreload=1
[Bufferpools]
poolsize=500000000

You can also just delete the ...

[DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460.0] <--- this part will be specific to your video card
Mode=1680x1050x32
TriLinear=1

... part and FSX will re-create the lines upon next run. The new entry will be at the bottom of your fsx.cfg file.

You will probably need to re-select your reso and anisotropic settings after the new entry is made. Do this as normal, through the FSX graphical settings menu.

Always save a copy of your current fsx.cfg file before making changes/creating new entries.

Thanks for the advice I'm comparing changes from a rebuild cfg with my custom settings with my cfg b4 card upgrade so far Some things changed like display as mentioned I'm actually not going to run any tweaks besides noells as I too think those are the only important ones with my setup, it's a pain for 3rd party as I need to rerun them I also reinstalled sound drivers to get fs2crew to work again. So far I'm happy with my upgrade but didn't fly yet just updating drivers.
