Troller Alert

Suspiscion of trollers around.
In addition to the troller "Pen3" yesterday, watch for "jjallen" and "xfinisherx" and there are a few others. Add "Vulcan760"

Recent newbies, started posting from zero to less than 20 posts between the last days, they all have in common, short sentences. The content is flightsim pertinent, as if copied from other forums or old posts...reason for sometimes confusing themselves and replying to threads years ago.

Looks as if a group of teens that decided to have some fun posing comments to pick on guys. Just watch to confirm it.

edit: You know what, maybe Im wrong and have gone mad, but its a group of people with less than 20 posts, never say thank or return posts, give short bursts of inquires and go away, like "such and such addon freezes"...please help, very strange. But maybe its just coincidence :)

I know this may sound silly, but I have to wonder about anyone that has a very basic post regarding FSX, when the software is going to be four years old this Oct.
I don't mind answering a post if it's relatively new etc.
I just wonder why they don't do some research or use the Newcomers forum.
What really gets to me is the "Help Me" at the end of their post. Sounds like a child that is very spoiled and just doesn't want to do anything but whine.

Wouldn't surprise me to learn one day that many of these posters are one & the same person. Few total, anyhoo.

Can you say, "Autonomous provocateur"? "Pot-stirrer"? "Poser"? Only successful when getting a rise out of someone?

Yup. Unless he has a very short memory or doesn't know how to search his own posts, he's annoying.

I always thought the definition of a troll was someone who comes here, says something like "FSX Sucks!!" then disappears. But these guys could be close.........

It is as Kapitan says - bored schoolkids. Happens every year during summer recess - much like the annual Perseid meteor shower :)

It doesn't take too long to work out who they are and just ignore them.

If they go too far, the mods just need to delete their profiles and posts.

Don't go off, half cocked!

"Pen3" received a PM from Darrell and I haven't seen him since. Troll? Dunno...

I couldn't find a thread started by "jjallen" but did find a couple replies.

If "xfinisherx" is a troll, I'll eat my hat. He asked a lot of re-paint questions, but, a day or two later, he posted his first re-paint. It looked pretty good too, and his post included his research link.

"Vulcan760" asked 2 questions and offered help/suggestions in 2 others.

I'll admit to getting miffed about a string of newbie one-liners too.
Labeling them trolls for posting a couple of them is a little extreme.

I agree. Pen3 is/was certainly very annoying, but the others I would hesitate to call anything other than new to the forum.

Don't judge a book by it's cover, and don't judge by the amount of posts someone has - means nothing. We all had our first post!

Anyway, I don't think this is the sort of thing that should be discussed openly. This is sounding like we're back at school talking about people behind their back - with the exception that the users in question can come and read this!

Even the best trains in the world will derail when they get on the 'wrong track'.

The only one that I noticed that did not make any sense was 'pen3'. The others seem 'normal' to me. I read ALL the posts, just so I don't miss something (I got the time and am a fast reader). It's not proper to hang dirty laundry in public (forum).

Use moderator alert. Unless you are in the 'dog house' with them, which irregardless of the number of posts, is VERY possible. This is no alternative. So WE found out more about YOU than about any 'trollers'. (You shot yourself in the foot (which is now in your mouth) and it's not a pretty picture).
